LEARN ABOUT ESSENTIAL OILS
Essential oils can be considered the immune system of Mother Nature. They are the aromatic compounds in seeds, bark, stems, roots, flowers and other parts of plants and play key roles in reproductive, protective, and regenerative processes. Exquisitely fragrant they also carry innumerable therapeutic benefits, working with our bodies to address issues and root causes on a cellular level.
Much more than just aromatherapy, these essential oils have quickly become an integral part of our healthy lifestyle. High quality oils may be utilized for aromatic, topical and internal use (CPTG oils only) to boost immune system, enhance breathing, aid digestion, ease aches and pains, provide emotional support, natural beauty and skin care, and more!
Each doTERRA essential oil is also carefully and thoroughly tested using the strict CPTG Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade® quality protocol. Experienced essential oil users will immediately recognize the superior quality standard for naturally safe, purely effective therapeutic-grade doTERRA essential oils.
While there is a science to the distillation of essential oils, it is also an art. Distillers not only rely on years of experience, they also employ modern technologies and techniques.
The most common method of extracting essential oils is a low-heat steam distillation process. In this process, pressurized steam is circulated through plant material.
The essential oils are liberated from the plant and carried away by the steam. When the steam cools, the water and oils naturally separate and the oil is collected. To ensure the highest quality oil extract with the correct chemical composition, the temperature and pressure must be closely monitored. Too little heat or pressure and the oil will not release; too much, and the oil’s composition and potency will be affected.
Not all essential oils are created equal. Basically there are four categories:
Synthetic oils: the most common, used in fragrance perfumes, cleaners and air fresheners. People often have sensitivities to these and can have dangerous side effects from this toxic exposure.
Food Grade oils: comply to the FDA's GRAS (Generally Recognized as Safe) standard. They are used as flavorings but generally have no therapeutic benefits.
Generic Therapeutic Grade oils: are the kind found in specialty health stores and can have some therapeutic benefits. There is no regulatory standards on "therapeutic grade", so even if they are labeled as containing "organic" essential oils, they can still be chemically processed in distillation or diluted.
The company that we use and trust is renowned as the highest quality essential oils on the market and has set a new standard for purity with:
